-
Be an “idea starter” for interdisciplinary research and a place to develop partnerships within the WIU-QC faculty.
-
Serve as a “resource bank” for various areas of expertise as well as provide to the WIU-QC faculty/staff at large with an opportunity to serve as a “resource bank” participant. This will include sharing expertise in methodologies and research areas.
-
Assist researchers with venues for publications and conference presentations.
-
Schedule presentations from guest speakers/outside experts in various research areas.
-
Provide a forum to practice a conference presentation or other scholarly talk before the actual presentation.
-
Act as readers for anyone in the research process or final stages of publication. This includes providing oral critiques and/or written critiques, depending on what kind of feedback and time the writer(s) need.
-
When people agree to read for each other, there will be reciprocity in the process. In other words, if someone wants feedback from the group, he/she should be willing to give feedback to others as well.
-
When critiques are given, members will provide constructive feedback, and when opinions are different, a respect for the diversity of opinion about a piece of writing shall be employed. Critiques shall be offered on organization, general content, among other things; however differences of opinion or personal stances on the topic areas need to be acknowledged thoughtfully.
